The order of dominance for your different preferences is:
As a dominant sensor you will tend to pay close attention to the facts and details of your life. You place your trust in the information provided by what is tangible: what you can see, hear, touch, taste and smell. You are reality based and will be rooted in the here and now.
The ISFJ's sensing preference is introverted, so s/he will tend to reflect on the facts and details of life. The auxiliary preference is the extraverted one of feeling, so an ISFJ is likely to be interested in working with people and will focus his or her thoughts on matters relating to people and the world rather than on raw data. ISFJs are down-to-earth and realistic people with a strong work ethic. They tend to be quiet and unassuming and prefer others who are the same way. Their extraverted feeling preference makes them gentle, sympathetic and supportive of friends and colleagues. They can be painstakingly accurate in their tasks. In partnership, the ISFJ will seek to promote harmony and will be steady and careful in contributing to a team. They will always have a personal comment for their colleagues that will communicate warmth and appreciation. They are excellent at organizing people in a comfortable way and will maintain the traditional values of their workplace. The downside of this is that they can overwhelm themselves while taking care of everyone else. They are not always able to assert their needs or to push their case in front of others'. When stressed, the ISFJ will become grumpy and resentful. Confusingly, s/he will become hypercritical of a person s/he was praising only a day earlier. His or her pessimism will also come to the fore. The ISFJ might therefore usefully work on being more assertive and less fearful of conflict. That will protect him or her from being taken advantage of. Jobs for ISFJs include: Family physician, nurse, elementary teacher, social worker, guidance counselor, speech pathologist, librarian, secretary, personnel administrator, bookkeeper, interior decorator, innkeeper, artist, real estate agent. |
