The order of dominance for your different preferences is:
As a dominant sensor you will tend to pay close attention to the facts and details of your life. You place your trust in the information provided by what is tangible: what you can see, hear, touch, taste and smell. You are reality based and will place a lot of value on the lessons acquired through experience.
The ESTP's sensing preference is extroverted so s/he is very responsive to current events and will live a life that is like a series of discrete events. S/he likes to be societally aware and will constantly look for ways to talk about and act on his or her observations. With thinking as their auxiliary preference, ESTPs are curious and open-minded, tolerant of others and themselves. They are action-oriented, good problem solvers and can be diplomatic in their dealings with others. They can be tough when the occasion warrants. For most ESTPs, action is a pleasure in itself: trying to set up a gig for a band is more rewarding than the gig itself. In the same way, they enjoy material possessions but in an easy, detached way. They like to have freedom to follow their enthusiasm of the moment, a pragmatic response to what is going on around them. ESTPs can be exciting and motivating partners with an easy manner that can lighten tense situations. This makes them a pleasure in social situations. They will also take charge in a crisis, using their quick grasp of the situation to organise others if necessary. The downside of this is that they can be overly pragmatic, ignoring the future, and can be blind to the sensitivities of others. Also, they can seem very materialistic and may be driven by their need to act to create crises just to move things along. ESTPs often seem impatient with abstract or complex theories. ESTPs benefit from learning time management and long-term planning techniques so as to foster a sense of responsibility. They can also grow by thinking more about the ramifications of their actions for others. Under stress, the ESTP will become bored and insensitive, withdrawing from others. S/he can become irresponsible about deadlines and timetables. A measure of unreliability may creep into his or her behavior, along with a stubborn resistance to change and an open intolerance of administrative details and procedures.. On the whole, the ESTP is an adaptable type, being an action oriented problem solver who prefers to work with practical issues. S/he can be impulsive, and can sometimes neglect follow-through, but will work best when there is a lot going on that needs organizing and promoting. Jobs for ESTPs include: Police officer, pilot, fire fighter, flight attendant, real estate agent, stockbroker, auditor, budget analyst, news reporter, promoter, auctioneer, sports coach, carpenter, farmer, chef, civil engineer, car sales, management consultant, entrepreneur, marine biologist. |
